"My Angel" - Cab and Necklace

Well I finally finished my angel rock cab. I put an additional row of size 8 seed beads (pearl) around the raw edge. I made a 16 1/2 inch necklace using the same pearls as the base row on the cab. This necklace also hase a gold toggle clasp. Probably not for everyone but I like it.

Angel Cab - First Steps

Well I wanted to make another cab so I thought I would try something different. I went out in the yard and found a relatively flat rock a little over an inch long and almost an inch wide. I then transferred an image of an angel I printed on my ink jet printer on to it with gloss medium and let it dry. This is the first step above.

I next glued the rock down on to Lacy's Stiff Stuff to become my under backing. I now realize my rock is pretty thick and I can't really use seed beads for the outer row. I decided to use some faux pearls probably about a size 6 mm. I then added the inner row of size 8 seed beads in a pink/lavender metallic color. Next I glued the cab onto a black ultra suede backing and trimmed it down. My next step was to add the edge row in gold size 6 seed beads. The image above is my progress so far. I am thinking about making a spiral rope in pearl and twisted gold bugle beads for the necklace but that could change. I want to think about this for a bit. So far I like this a lot - I am not too sure if this is an item that would sell but it is beautiful

"Sybil" - Necklace and Pendant

Wooo-Hoooo - just finished necklace this last night. I had made the cabochon/pendant a while ago from a piece of glass I bought in Delaware and seed beads - size 6 and 11. I just wasn't sure how to finish it but yesterday I decided to try. I had been thinking about making a spiral rope for the necklace and had even bought the seed beads but I just wasn't happy with the look. So I used size 6mm Blue Tiger Eye beads with the same bronze and gold seed beads used in the pendant and it looks like a complete piece. I didn't want the necklace to overpower the pendant and I think I created a nice balance. It is finished with a gold toggle clasp and measures 17 inches. I love this necklace and it looks and feels great on my neck. This is a step forward in my jewelry making efforts.

Here is another view. Unfortunately the Blue Tiger Eye beads look black in the photo.

Here is a close up of the cabochon. I am going to make more of these - I bought a bunch of these glass pieces at the Jewelry Expo.

"Winter" - Fringe Bracelet

This is my second fringe bracelet called "Winter". It is made with gold seed beads size 6 and 11 and disc shell beads in different sizes. The shell beads are from an old necklace that I recycled. It has a gold toggle clasp. I made the fringe shorter on this bracelet than "Ariel" - I have not decided which I like better.

And another view - I really like this bracelet but it was hard to photograph.

"Ariel" - Fringe Bracelet

This is a new bracelet I just finished last night. I bought the pattern on Etsy from The Jade Dog. It was easy and fun to make - love it. I want to make a few more of these and it is a good way to use up spare beads. This one is made up of black seed beads size 6 and 11 and a red bead mix for the fringe. It also has a beautiful silver toggle clasp.

Yet another.

"Iris" - Bead Crochet Bangle/Bracelet

I cannot get a good photo of this bracelet. The beads are size 6 Triangle Seed in Dark Purple Iris Metallic. This bracelet is very unusual and very striking - it fits me great, is my favorite color, looks and feels good on - I just may keep this one. It is bead crochet - 6 beads around so it is quite substantial.

My First Cabochon

This is a piece of glass I bought at the Jewelry Expo - I bought a few of them. I liked the color and shape of these pieces of glass. I bought a new book "Beading with Cabochons" and thought I would like to try to make some of these to go with my jewelry. So for the piece of glass above (I wish I had taken a photo of it before I did the beading work on it) I used size 6 seed beads in copper color for the two outer rows and gold size 11 seed beads for the inner most row. The back is sealed with ultra suede and for my first try I am very happy. I am thinking about making a dark blue and copper spiral rope necklace to go with this cab - but I need to go bead shopping. This finished cab is almost 2 inches long and 1 3/4 inches wide.

I do love the book "Beading with Cabochons" lots of good techniques and ideas, well written with easy to follow directions.

"Godiva" - Bracelet

New bead crochet bracelet. This one is called Godiva - because it reminds me of chocolate candy. This one is made with seed beads - size 6 chocolate color and size 8 a silvery metallic (which did not photograph well). These bracelets roll on and off over the hand - the inside dimension of this one is 6 3/4 so it will fit a size 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 inch wrist. I like the way the two different size beads give an extra texture to the bracelet - this one is a beauty. I am enjoying doing bead crochet even thought it is labor intensive - the results are worth it. This bracelet is for sale in my Etsy Shop here.

"Eden" - Bracelet

This is a bead crochet bangle called "Eden". I took a class in bead crochet awhile ago and this is my second attempt. I have since bought a good beginners book on bead crochet and I am on my way. This technique is a bit more difficult then other bead weaving or stringing but I love the final look and feel of the rope created by the beads and thread. These type of bracelets roll on and off over the hand. This one fits me - 6 1/4 inch wrist. It is made of size 6 seed beads in dark matte green, metallic lighter green and gold. I am really happy with this one! I don't know why I am working in green lately - I am not too fond of green - maybe it is because it is spring? This bracelet is for sale at my Etsy Store here.

"Avalon" - Bracelet

New Spool Knit bracelet called "Avalon". This one is made of fine silver wire, green iridescent seed beads, silver end cones and a silver hook clasp. This is a little bigger than I usually make my bracelets - this will fit a size 7-7 1/4 inch wrist. It is in my Etsy Shop - here.
