Mayan Treasure Cuff Bracelet - Part I

I purchases the Bead Embroidery Cuff "Mayan Treasure" from Beverly Herman - No Easy Beads some time ago. But I just didn't feel ready to work on it or try my hand at any serious bead embroidery. I am going to experiment and try new things over the summer and decided my first project would be this cuff. Above is my first session two nights ago.

This is what I completed last night. I am very happy with the way the cuff is coming along (since I don't know what I am doing). Well that is not really true - I do have a nice set of directions that came with the cuff.
Here is a close up of the center portion. I have art class tonight so I won't get much done when I get home - it will be too late.

I WON, I WON

Imagine my surprise this morning when I found out I won the Humble Bead contest! I am so excited not only do I never win anything but I am in love with Heather's beads. My plan is to use the summer as a time of experiment with my beading - learn some new techniques, try some new projects and also have fun. I have been thinking about this for awhile - I have more than enough jewelry in my Etsy shop and to sell at the one craft show I do in the summer - so why not spend some time working on learning, designing and trying a major project or two. These beads are going to fit right in with my plans. I am a Happy Hutter!!!!!

Humble Beads

Beauty, which is what is meant by art, using the word in its widest sense, is, I contend, no mere accident to human life, which people can take or leave as they choose, but a positive necessity of life. - William Morris, The Beauty of Life, 1880

Well beauty and art sure describes Humble Beads. Pictured above are the William Morris Garden Cuff Beads, Copper floral design inspired by a William Morris textile pattern. Each bead is one-of-a-kind. Visit Humble Beads for more beautiful and exciting beads - you won't be disappointed!

Turquoise Twist - Neclkace and Pendant

This pendant and necklace is called "Turquoise Twist". The focal is a purchased turquoise and silver pendant 1 1/4 inches in length. The necklace is a twisted herringbone rope made with size 11 seed beads in turquoise and silver. This necklace is 16 inches in length plus the closure which is a hand made loop and toggle.

This was my second attempt at herringbone and I really like the twisted herringbone necklace with the pendant. The turquoise size 11 seed beads really match the stone in the pendant well.
