Earrings

I am making a few pair of earrings as a change of pace and because I sold a lot at my last craft show. I like making earrings as they go fast - well I like making the first earring the second not so much. I seem to be englamored with the bronze and black coloring lately - wonder why?? Well here is the first pair I made and I am off to finish a second pair - I have the house to myself until tomorrow.

Azure - Fringed Peyote Necklace

I finished this necklace last night - it is from a pattern I purchased from Good Quill Hunting's Patterns and Kits Etsy Shop. I really didn't have the supplies that I wanted to use to make this necklace so I used what I had on hand - I considered this first one a learning experience. I love the way this necklace turned out. I love the color, the feel and the way it fits - it is a keeper. I think it will be great for the summer with vee necked shirts or even for dress up (yea like I do that a lot). Well this was a successful "learning experience" I am happy with it and plan on making a few more of these beauties. Thanks Quill for a great pattern!!!!!

Snow Storm - Beaded Spiral Bracelet

This is a spiral bracelet made with a base of size 6 seed beads in a pearl and clear. The spirals are made using size 8 seed beads in pearl. It also has a loop and silver button closure. This is an unusual spiral - the core is herringbone and the spiral is over it - it is almost like an inside out spiral. I guess I was inspired by all the snow we have since I do not usually bead in white. It was very hard to photo this one because of the white. I do like this bracelet - it is a little too big for me however so I am listing it in my Etsy Shop.

Good Earth - Spiral Bangle

I must say I am loving this color combination - the bronze with the silver and black - this is a redder shade of the bronze than the cellini spiral I made a few days ago. This bracelet is called "Good Earth". It is made with black, silver and bronze seed beads size 8 and 11. This bangle has a wire armature in the middle so it is really a stiff bangle. It has a handmade loop and spiral closure and it also has fringe on each end. This bracelet is based on a Linda Gettings pattern.

2nd ANNUAL Haute Couture Beading Contest

Good Quill Hunting is having another Haute Couture Beading Contest. I didn't enter the last one but really want to make something for this next one and I have lots of time to get something designed since the deadline is: November 19, 2010. There already is a nice list of prizes for the contest winners. See all the details here: 2nd ANNUAL Haute Couture Beading Contest. I love some of the photos and some just make me laugh - this is a fun contest and will stretch my imagination to come up with an entry.

New Beaded Earrings

I decided to make some new earrings - I sold quite a few pairs at craft shows so I needed some new ones for my Etsy and 1000Market shops. I need to make a few more pairs - they work up pretty quickly - and in beadweaving that is a good thing.

Earthy Swirl - Cellini Spiral Bangle

This is a Cellini Spiral beaded bracelet called "Earthy Swirl". It is made with black, silver and bronze seed beads size 8, 11 and 15. The spiral and dimension of this bracelet is achieved by using different size beads. This bangle will roll over your hand and fits a size 6 1/2 inch wrist. This is an unusual color combination for me and came about by accident. I bought a lot of seed beads and just dumped out the tubes on my beading desk and these three colors were next to each other - I considered it a happy accident and beaded up this Cellini bracelet.

A Day in the Desert - Pendant and Spiral Rope Necklace

I just finished this pendant and spiral rope necklace - I started the pendant when I was in PA during the summer and had a different vision for this piece. I picked it up last week and decided to finish it and this was my outcome and I must say it is very nice.

"A Day in the Desert" is a bead embroidery pendant and spiral rope necklace. The center is a square shaped earth toned cab. It is surrounded by earth toned, cream pearl and gold beads with jasper chiped accents and fringe. The necklace is a spiral rope with a cream pearl size 8 seed bead as the core and earth toned and brown seed beads as the spiral. It has a hand made loop and toggle closure. The necklace is 16 inches in length plus the closure. The pendant is 3 inches in length with the fringe and 1 3/4 inches in width. This piece is very earthy and warm. I am temped to keep it for myself but I have listed it in my Etsy Shop and my 1000 Market Shop. Hey I can't keep everything right!

Ginger Snap - Beaded Necklace

I saw this design on the cover of a Step by Step digital issue and thought it looked interesting. I wanted to make a necklace for me for a change so I purchases the book. Here it is Ginger Snap - it is an interesting pattern and beads up quickly because of the larger beads - Red Aventurine 6MM, 4MM and size 11 seed beads. I LOVE it. It is 17 inches plus the copper loop and toggle closure.

Netted Lace Necklace

Just finished this netted necklace - pattern by Sandra Halpenny. This is not a great picture - the lighting is awful today and photoing white pearl beads is not easy. The beads are not snow white but not as creamy as they look in this photo. This one took some time to bead - it is a complicated pattern but well worth the time - it is a stunning necklace. It also has a handmade beaded loop and toggle closure. It measures 16 inches plus the closure.

Work in Progress

This is the latest necklace I am working on - it is a netting design in pearl colored seed beads. It is taking forever - very intricate and slow going but really beautiful. I am very excited about this one. I got a package in the mail yesterday - an artist friend (thank you Lois) sent me a copy of 500 Beaded Objects - she got it at a local library for $1.00. What an amazing book - I am thrilled to have it.

Pink Petals - Cellini Spiral Bangle

This is a Cellini Spiral beaded bracelet called "Pink Petals". It is made with seed beeds size 8, 11 and 15.The spiral and dimension of this bracelet is achieved by using different size beads. Had made a silver, black and pearl cellini but it sold immediately so I made this one - just finished it last night. I like the color combination on this one.

Spring Bouquet - Freeform Netted Bracelet

Just finished this new freeform netted bracelet called Spring Bouquet - I also added some fiber to this one. One of my favorite bloggers is Beverly Ash Gilbert. I love her blog, of course for the beading, but also for the amazing posts about color and the wonderful photos she posts. Beverly has a book coming out in January - which I have pre-ordered - called BEADED COLORWAYS: Freeform Beadweaving Projects and Palettes. She makes the most amazing freeform netted jewelry so I thought I would like to try this - this is my fifth bracelet, they are fun to make, feel great on and are just beautiful with the combination of colors.

This is the third cellini spiral I have made - I love the look but they make up pretty slowly.

Christmas Party - Peyote Cuff Bracelet

This peyote beadwoven bracelet is called Christmas Party. It is made using size 6 green seed beads in a 2 drop peyote stitch as the base. It is trimmed with size 11 gold seed bead picots and the focal is a white and gold poinsettia flower. It also has a handmade loop and toggle closure. This bracelet will fit a size 6 1/2 inch wrist and would be perfect for this Holiday season or that special Christmas party. I am trying to make up a few pieces for some Holiday craft shows I am doing. I love making these simple peyote bands and then embellishing them.

Artist Profile

Well this is shaping up to be a good day. Cyndi Lavin has profiled me this AM on Jewelry and Beading. It is a great interview IMO but then I guess since it is me I better think so! I want to thank her for the profile - it was exciting to do and even more exciting to see. Here is the URL so you can go look for yourself and leave a comment:

Purple Diagonal - Peyote Cuff Bracelet

This is a peyote stitch bracelet called "Purple Diagonal". The darker violet beads are size 6 and the lavender pearl beads size 8. It also has a handmade peyote stitched loop and toggle closure. This bracelet will fit a wrist size 6 1/2" to 6 3/4".

I made another one of these diagonal bracelets awhile back and of course didn't write down how I did it and I had a hard time figuring out the stitch sequence - did I write it down this time - NO. Once you get it going it is easy to do but you have to get it going right in the first few rows.

Christmas Tapestry - Peyote Cuff Bracelet

This is a new bracelet I just finished - I am really going strong with the red, green and gold for the holidays. It has a handmade loop and toggle closure. I sure hope I sell this one because it is way too big for me - 7 1/4 inch wrist.
