Sixteen Moons - Beaded Pendant and Necklace

I finished my beaded pendant and necklace using the mystery cab.  I sure have a lot of mystery cabs and in the future I need to make a notation of what the stone is.  I am looking for pictures like this one - so far nothing and I don't even remember where I bought this from.  I am calling this piece Sixteen Moons.  This title is from a book I recently read Beautiful Creatures.  I think it fits it well - I originally had a different name picked out for it but I like this one better.

I sometimes like to combine spiral rope with my fringe and I also like to combine beads and spiral rope in the necklace.  I especially like to do this if I do not have enough beads to complete the necklace.  I love the coloring in this piece - the matte black, lime green and yellow  - this is not a combination I usually work with but it sure is pretty.  This piece is listed in my Etsy Shop here.

What I Am Working On

Now that I have recovered from the freeform blog hop I have started a new project.  I had this cab in my stash and have always loved the markings and the coloring.  But as usual I don't know where I bought it or what it is - why does this always happen?  I do know it is going to be the pendant part of a pendant/necklace combo.

Here is my beading tray with the cab and a few beads that may or may not be included in the final piece.  I already have the name picked out and it is a good one.  I actually had 2 names picked out so I have a good name for another project down the line. I don't think I can go wrong with this gorgeous cab!

Freeform Peyote Choose Your Own Adventure Reveal

Karen Williams and Mandi Ainsworth came up with the idea for a challenge - create a freeform peyote piece and share it for all the world to see. Today is the big reveal and I couldn't be more excited.  I can't wait to see what everyone created.  They also started a Facebook Group as well with lots of great people and wonderful ideas and tips on freeform beading. This was a fun challenge for me because although I have beaded freeform pieces before I haven't tackled one in a long time.  It got me thinking about colors and shape again. So here it is my freeform bracelet called A Taste of Honey.

I  usually do my freeform vertically rather than horizontal (I have done a few horizontal) but I am more comfortable in this format.  I get a much more fluid piece this way. I chose a very warm pallet of soft violet, soft oranges, pinks, bronze and golds.  For the focal I chose a small jasper that I bought at a shop in Pennsylvania.  It had a very warm color that went well with the seed beads.  I am happy with the results but for my next adventure I think I will try the horizontal format

I can't wait to go have a look at what everyone has created. Here is the Adventurer Roster:

More Earrings

The other day when I went to the bead shop I bought a couple of packages of ear wires and I am putting them to good use.  This latest pair is made with denim blue and pearl colored size 11 seed beads.  These would look great casual with jeans.  Listed in my Etsy Shop here.                                .

Super Duo Pendant

So I wanted to try the new super duo beads and I loved this pattern for a pendant by Ellad2.  I finished it last night and I love it - it is for me for a change and the color is just perfect.  I love the look but had problems with the super duos as some holes did not go through the beads.  At one point I tried to open the hole and broke a bead and had to rip out a row and a half to get back to replace the broken bead.  I bought a few other colors and will be making some more pendants for some friends.  I think now that I have this first pendant under my belt the next will be easier.

Fringed Earrings

So I thought I would do a few easier things after my problems with the pendant/necklace. Earrings are fun, fast and pretty easy to make.  Finished these earlier today and I am working on another pair and then maybe I will try one of the new patterns I have purchased recently.

The Other Side of the Moon

I finally finished this necklace and I am calling it The Other Side of the Moon.  This was one of the hardest pieces I have ever worked on.  At first I was going to make a cuff then a pendant and back and forth.  Also the coloring is not in my comfort zone - I at first paired it with grey and dark blue beads and they were overpowering the beautiful Lisa Peters cab.  I finally settled on a pendant in sky blue, grey and orange yellow.  No fringe or anything else to distract - the cab is the star and I like it a lot.

Work in Progress

So I started the cuff in the top picture and it was just not working for me - I felt the beading was over powering the cab.  I cut it up and ripped it all out and started fresh and now my cuff is becoming a pendant/necklace.  Although neither photo is very good the bottom is more true to the yellow color in the cab.  I am not even close to finishing but I am much happier with the pendant version.  With the cab becoming a pendant it can be the star that it really wanted to be.

Have A Heart

This is a freeform peyote bracelet called Have A Heart.  I made it to wear to our Valentine's dance tonight but because of the snowstorm it has been cancelled.  So I listed the bracelet in my Etsy Shop here.  I figure it is not something I would wear that much so I may as well put it out there on Etsy.
